Introduction

After the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed away, many companions had written pieces of the Qur’an.

These copies sometimes had small differences because different Arab tribes spoke different dialects.

During the time of Caliph Uthmān ibn Affān (RA), he ordered a standard copy of the Qur’an (Mushaf) to be written.

Why did Uthmān standardize the Qur’an?

Why were other copies removed?

Kuch jaghon par qiraat aur lehjay mukhtalif thay. Uthmān (RA) ne ek official Mushaf tayar karwa kar sab mein bheja.

Kyun: Taake log confuse na hon, mukhtalif qiraat par jhagra na ho, aur Qur’an ka lafz ek saath rahe.

“Burning” ka matlab: Ye be-izzati nahi thi. Ye sirf un copies ko remove karna tha

jo logon ko confuse kar sakti thin.

Hadith: Riwayaat maujood hain jo is waqea ko bayan karti hain.
